GAFC Basket Bingo

The GAFC #1 will be hosting a Basket Bingo on Sunday, October 19th. The bingo will be held at The 27 House. Doors open at 12:30 P.M. Early bird bingo begins at 1:45 P.M., with regular bingo beginning at 2:00 P.M. Tickets cost $20.00. Chicken BBQ supports Gratz Little League

The GAFC #1 will be having a Chicken BBQ on Saturday, August 30th. The platters will be ready for purchase at The 27 House around 11:00 A.M. All proceeds collected will benefit The Gratz Little League. Each platter costs $8.00 and consists of a chicken half, baked potato, cole slaw, and a choice of dessert. Please come out to support The Gratz Little League and hurry, as the platters sell quickly!

The Gratz Area Fire Company #1 is holding a fund raiser for the 2008 Gratz Fair. There are 15 prizes available. Each ticket costs $2. The drawing will be held Saturday, September 20th, 2008 at 10:00 P.M. at the GAFC Cake Stand at the Gratz Fairgrounds. Contact a GAFC Member for more information or to purchase a ticket.

Michael Foods Walk-Through

Michael Foods, Inc. of Klingerstown will be hosting a walk-through tour of their facility on June 7th, 2008. A hazardous materials class will also be included in the schedule. Breakfast will be served by Michael Foods at 7:00 A.M. A walk-through of the new ammonia system will be from 7:30 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. The hazardous materials class will be held from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. From 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., a tour of the plant will be held, with the group being accompanied by a federal instructor. 11th Annual Consignment Sale

The Gratz Area Fire Co. #1 & The Amish Parochial Schools of Upper Dauphin County will be hosting their 11th annual consignment sale on Saturday, May 3rd. The sale will be held at the Gratz Fairgrounds and will begin at appx. 8:30 A.M. There will be 12 auctioneers working throughout the day. Food for sale will include an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., chicken BBQ, pig roast, homemade ice cream, homemade baked goods, and other good food. GAFC #1 St. Baldricks '08

The GAFC will be holding its annual St. Baldrick's event on Saturday, March 15th, 2008. Registration will begin at 11:00 A.M. and shaving will begin at 2:00 P.M. There will be a DJ, 50/50 drawings & door prizes. After the shavings are complete, there will be various flavors of wings and other refreshments available. GAFC Training Night: January 21st

The Gratz Area Fire Company #1 will be holding our next training night on January 21st, 2008. Training will begin at appx. 7:30 P.M. in The Engine Room. Training will be led by Lieutenant Schlegel & Lieutenant Sitlinger. Members who are coming need to bring their full set of PPE along to complete the training session. The GAFC strongly encourages all members to participate in this training exercise.

GAFC Soup Sale

The GAFC #1 will be having a soup sale on February 9th, 2008. The sale will begin around 10:00 A.M. Soups being sold include ham & bean, chicken corn & vegetable. Soup will be sold by the quart, at $4.00 per quart. We ask that you come out and support the GAFC and to get there early, as the soup always sells fast!

Haz-Mat Awareness Refresher

The Halifax Fire Department will be hosting a Haz-Mat Awareness refresher with the Pro-Board certification exam on Monday, December 3rd. The class will start at 6:30 P.M. The class will be 1.5 hours with the exam following. The cost of the exam will be $25.00 per student and the application below must be filled out prior. The applications should be brought with that evening with payment or the official HACC authorization to bill form. Please inform Bob Stout (Chief 29) at RStout@dauphinc.org if you plan to attend the class.

GAFC Sponsers Cancer Patient Fund Drive

The Gratz Area Fire Company #1 is sponsering a charity fund drive which benefits Derrick Roadcap, a cancer patient living in Valley View. Derrick was diagnosed with brain cancer and had lost his job. Payment for the fund drive is $5.00, after which you will receive a calendar of the month of September with prizes for every day of the month. Structure Training: April 30th

The building, in Gratz Boro, is being lent to the GAFC by the Gratz National Bank for the time being. Specifics of the training will be determined that night. Essentials Class in Klingerstown

The Klingerstown Fire Company is hosting an Essentials of Firefighting Module I class on May 16th, 23rd, 30th, and June 6th. All classes will be held on Wednesday nights (times will be posted here as soon as they are verified.) The Essentials manual will be needed BEFORE you attend the class. The Gratz Area Fire Company will be hosting a St. Baldricks event on Saturday, March 17th. St. Baldricks is a foundation whose events raise money by having people have their heads shaved. All proceeds then go to children with cancer. The event will start at 1:00 P.M. and will end whenever we're done! Refreshments will be available at the event.
